The Therapeutic Massage program at Johnston Community College teaches you how to promote wellness through the art and science of massage. You’ll gain hands-on experience in a supportive learning environment as you prepare to become a Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist (LMBT) in North Carolina.
After completing Massage I and Massage II, you’ll be eligible to take the Massage & Bodywork Licensure Exam (MBLEx) and apply for your state license.

Graduates of the Therapeutic Massage program can pursue roles in a variety of settings, such as:
Spas and wellness centers – offering relaxation and therapeutic services
Medical and clinical settings – integrating massage into patient care (e.g. rehab, pain clinics)
Chiropractic, physical therapy, or rehabilitation offices – collaborating with other practitioners
Mobile or in-home services – traveling to clients’ homes, offices, events
Fitness, athletic, or sports performance settings – working with athletes or gym clientele
Corporate wellness / workplace programs – providing on-site chair massage or stress relief services
Travel, resort, or cruise opportunities – working in hospitality or destination wellness settings
