Tuition Rates, Fees, & Expenses

Placeholder Text

Choosing an affordable education is important, and JCC offers high-quality programs at a low cost as part of the North Carolina Community College System.

Affordable Tuition & Fees

  • Tuition rates are set by the North Carolina General Assembly.
  • Activity & technology fees are determined by JCC’s Board of Trustees following state policies.
  • Tuition and fees are due at the start of each semester and are subject to change.
  • Textbooks and supplies are additional costs and vary based on your program.

Official Registration & Payment

To be officially registered, you must:

Pay tuition and fees in full, have a payment plan in place, or have an approved third-party billing arrangement with JCC’s Business Office.

Important: Students with unpaid bills or overdue library fines cannot register for classes until their balance is cleared.

Full-Time vs. Part-Time Enrollment

Full-time student: Enrolled in 12 or more credit hours per semester.
Part-time student: Enrolled in less than 12 credit hours per semester.
Understanding Cost of Attendance (COA)

JCC calculates the Cost of Attendance (COA) to estimate the total educational expenses you may have for a given academic year. This helps determine your financial aid eligibility. COA includes tuition, fees, books, supplies, food, housing, transportation, miscellaneous personal expenses, and professional fees.

Planning Your Budget? Use the U.S. Department of Education Net Price Calculator to estimate your financial aid eligibility and out-of-pocket costs.
