Steps to Success!

Define Your Career and Academic Goals

Before choosing a transfer university, it's essential to identify your career aspirations and the course of study that aligns with them. Consider what you want to achieve and how your education can help you get there. JCC's Career Services Center can assist you in exploring potential majors and career paths. Aim to complete this step by the end of your second semester at JCC.

Research and Narrow Down Potential Schools

Gather information on various colleges and universities to determine which ones fit your needs. Consider factors like:

Location: Do you prefer staying close to home or moving farther away?
Size: Are you looking for a large university or a smaller college environment?
Campus Life: What kind of student activities, clubs, and support services are available?
Majors Offered: Does the school offer the program you're interested in?
Admission Requirements: What GPA and prerequisites are needed for your desired major?

Use these criteria to narrow your choices to three or four schools. You should complete this research by the end of your second semester at JCC.

Complete Applications to Your Top-Choice Schools

Once you've selected your preferred institutions, it's time to apply. Be mindful of application deadlines, especially for competitive programs. Ensure you:

Submit all required documents, including essays and letters of recommendation.
Request official transcripts from JCC's Registrar's Office.
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and any additional financial aid forms required by the institutions.

Fulfill JCC Graduation Requirements and Finalize Transfer

As you approach the end of your time at JCC, make sure to:

File your Graduation Application within the first ten days of your final semester.
Send your admission deposit to your chosen transfer institution by the required deadline.
Submit a final, official transcript to your new college or university after your final grades are posted.
Ensure your immunization records are up-to-date and submitted to your new school.

Transfer Degrees at JCC

JCC offers several associate degrees designed for transfer:

Associate in Arts (AA): Ideal for students pursuing degrees in liberal arts, education, or social sciences.
