Commencement is a ceremony held twice a year in December and May that honors students who just have or will soon graduate, which means completing all their certificate, diploma and degree programs.

Steps to Commencement

JCC holds Commencement in December and May.

  1. Apply to Graduate

    Completing an application for graduation is necessary to participate in the commencement ceremony.

  2. Attend the Grad Fair & Order Regalia

    Attend the Graduation Fair to order your cap & gown, ask questions about Graduation, and celebrate with your fellow graduates!

  3. Graduation Practice

    2026 Spring Graduation Practice at the Paul A. Johnston Auditorium

    Ordering your regalia (cap & gown) confirms your participation for the Commencement Ceremony. You can order your cap & gown online.
    Order deadline to be announced.

  4. Commencement Ceremony

    Johnston Community College's 2026 Winter Commencement Ceremony will be held at the Paul A. Johnston Auditorium.

Security Notice 
For the safety of all attendees, metal detectors will be in use at the venue. Please allow additional time for entry.

Prohibited Items
The following items are not permitted inside the venue:

• Weapons of any kind

• Helium balloons

• Glass vases

• Large posters

• Sound or voice amplification devices

• Strollers

• Wrapped gifts

• Signs, banners, or flags that may obstruct the view of other guests
