Massage Therapy Training

Program Overview

Once successfully completing both Massage I & Massage II, you will be able to sit for the Massage & Bodywork Licensure Exam (MBLEXEX).

With both Massage I & II certificates and a PASS score on the MBLEXEX, you may apply for a North Carolina license.

How to Get Started

You do not need to be a JCC student to take these courses, but you will need to apply and be accepted to this program to be able to register. All students MUST register at least 5 days prior to the class start date.

  1. Admissions Policy

    To be admitted to the Massage Therapy Training program you must:

    • Be at least 18 years of age or older
    • Have completed the Massage Therapy Training Program Application  
    • Have graduated or will graduate from high school or the equivalent, as recognized by the State of North Carolina, Official Transcript must be submitted

      If you didn't graduate from a High School in the United States you must pass the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Scores within the past five years
    • Have submitted two Moral Character Reference Forms from non-family
  2. The Application Process

    After you complete the Massage Therapy Training Program Application, make sure to submit the following required items:

    Ask two(2) people who are not family members to complete the Moral Character Reference Form (PDF) reference forms and each should email their completed form directly to either:

    Have your OFFICIAL HIGH School Transcript, or Equivalent, mailed to:

  3. Mandatory Orientation

    Once you're accepted into the Massage Therapy Program

    • You will receive an e-mail providing additional information about Orientation and a user/password for the New Student Blackboard Shell
    • You are required to attend the program orientation held by the Program Director or her designee.
  4. Program Requirements

    Once you’ve attended orientation, the following items are required  and should be submitted before your first day of class:

    • Background Check and Drug Screen
    • Completed Physical Exam Form
    • Immunization Records
    • Current American Heart Association (AHA) CPR Card
    • Uniform – must be purchased and worn at all times
    • Supplies and Textbooks – purchase all required materials
    • Field Study Requirement – receive two one-hour massages and submit your completed Massage Experience Forms
  5. Financial Assistance

    Financial assistance may be available. Options may include JCC Foundation Scholarships or Back to Class funds and SECU Bridge to Career.
