Fire Protection Technology

Program Overview

Our Fire Programs offer different pathways to prepare you for a career in fire protection and emergency services. You can earn a Fire Protection Technology degree to build the skills and knowledge needed for jobs in both public and private fire services.

We also offer specialized certificates in Fire Investigation and Fire Management, focusing on fire causes, leadership, and administration. Plus, our Firefighter Training covers essential firefighting and rescue skills, with advanced courses to help firefighters and emergency medical professionals stay up to date in the field.

Fire program training is held at the JCC Public Safety Building & Training Grounds, Online, and Fire Rescue Departments across the county.

Day or Night

The Fire Academy offers an intensive program designed to prepare you for a rewarding career in fire service. The Academy is divided into two distinct blocks:

Block 1 – Focuses on certifications in Firefighter, Incident Command System, Traffic Incident Management, and Hazardous Materials.

Block 2 – Concentrates on North Carolina Technical Rescuer and Vehicle Rescuer training.

NC IFSACCourses

In-Service Fire Rescue Certification Courses

The NC IFSAC Accredited Fire Rescue Training courses are required for IFSAC Certifications from NC OSFM.

Courses appear on JCC and NC OSFM transcripts, which may take up to 90 days. If delayed, contact the college.

Registration occurs on the first night of class, and attendance is mandatory—missing more than 20%  of any class results in no credit.

Non-affiliated students must provide an affiliation letter on department letterhead, signed by their Chief with a contact number.
