Program Overview

Johnston Community College offers hands-on fire and rescue training to help you build your skills, stay certified, and stay ready for real-world emergencies. These in-service courses are designed for both new and experienced firefighters, so you can continue to grow in your role and meet all state and local training requirements.

You can choose from a wide range of fire and rescue classes offered throughout the year, including evening and weekend options that fit your schedule. Each course focuses on practical training, safety, and the latest standards used in the fire service. You’ll stay current with new tools, updated procedures, and advanced rescue techniques that help keep you and your team safe.

Fire Rescue Training Courses

Our in-service training includes courses such as:

• Firefighter I and II
  Learn essential firefighting skills, safety practices, and suppression techniques used during Fireground operations.

• Fire Instructor
  Develop the skills to teach fire and rescue courses, lead training sessions, and guide new firefighters.

• Emergency Vehicle Driver
  Learn how to safely operate fire department vehicles, follow response procedures, and navigate emergency situations.

• Technical Rescuer
  Train in specialized rescue disciplines, including rope rescue, vehicle rescue, and confined space operations.

• Fireground Operations
  Build your skills in teamwork, communication, and decision-making during real-world Fireground scenarios.

• FSLE Educator Level III
  Gain advanced knowledge to deliver fire and life safety education programs in your community.
