Associate in Science

Program Overview

To earn your Associate in Science degree, you'll need to complete at least 60 semester hours of college transfer courses. These courses focus on essential skills like reading, writing, oral communication, basic math, and computer use. By finishing this program, you'll be well-prepared for advanced studies in various STEM fields.​

What You'll Learn

In the AS program, you'll take courses in English composition, humanities and fine arts, social and behavioral sciences, natural sciences, and mathematics. This broad curriculum not only meets general education requirements but also lets you explore different subjects, helping you identify your interests and career goals.​

JCC is part of the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA), which allows you, upon graduating with an AS degree and meeting transfer requirements, to transfer to any University of North Carolina institution with junior status. This agreement ensures your credits are recognized and applied toward your bachelor's degree.
