How Do I Get Started?

The following health programs at Johnston Community College require that all entering students be listed on the North Carolina Nurse Aide Registry in order to be admitted: Associate Degree Nursing, Cardiovascular Sonography, and Medical Sonography.

Please refer to the Admission Policy for those programs for dates to be listed on the North Carolina Nurse Aide Registry.

The Therapeutic and Diagnostic Services: Nurse Aide Pathway is encouraged for all Pre-Health Science students pursuing the following programs:

Associate Degree Nursing

Radiography

Medical Sonography

Cardiovascular Sonography

The Nurse Aide Pathway requires all students to Apply to Johnston Community College.

Certified nursing assistants (CNAs) are important healthcare providers who support patients with daily activities and supply routine care such as assessing temperatures, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure, activities of daily living and providing nursing assistant procedures. Supervised by a registered nurse or license practical nurse, CNAs are commonly referred to as the "eyes and ears" of the nurse because they spend more time observing and interacting with patients.

This training provides insight into patient care that will prove invaluable as you pursue your nursing, sonography or health sciences career. Another common term for CNA is Nurse Aide I.
