This six-hour, instructor-led classroom course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilation and provide early use of an AED. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider – Recertification Course

Johnston Community College (JCC) does not run stand along recertification courses on a regular schedule. The same requirements and objectives are met by completing the initial course, which is our recommendation.

Basic Life Support (BLS) eLearning Skills Session

A skills session is the hands-on portion of an AHA eLearning course and includes Parts 2 and 3 — skills practice and testing. It is conducted in-person after a student completes Part 1 online. For admission into a skills session, students must present their Part 1 Certificate of Completion to the AHA Instructor. The American Heart Association's BLS for Healthcare Providers Online Part 1 Course, Web-based and accessible 24 hours a day, provides a flexible alternative to classroom training. Through case-based scenarios, interactive activities and videos, this course teaches the concepts of both single-rescuer and team basic life support. For additional information regarding Part 1 visit Online AHA | American Heart Association.
