Program Overview

Our Criminal Justice Technology program offers you the chance to learn about local, state, and federal law enforcement, court systems, corrections, and security services.  You’ll learn from instructors with real-world law enforcement experience and advanced academic credentials.

If you have completed the North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement (BLET) Training after 2000, you may be eligible to receive up to nineteen (19) transfer credits toward the degree program.

What You'll Learn

You’ll build a strong foundation in criminal justice concepts and develop skills employers value in public safety and legal environments, including:

• Criminal Justice Systems – Understand how law enforcement, courts, and corrections work together
• Criminology & Juvenile Justice – Examine causes of crime and approaches to prevention and rehabilitation
• Criminal & Constitutional Law – Learn legal principles that guide justice and due process
  Investigative Principles – Develop basic investigative and evidence-handling skills
• Ethics & Professional Responsibility – Apply ethical decision-making in justice-related careers
• Community Relations – Explore strategies for building trust and effective communication
• Technology & Communication – Use computer systems and communication tools common in justice settings

Career Opportunities

An associate  degree in criminal justice could lead to a variety of entry-level roles in public safety, law enforcement or legal services, at the local, state, and federal levels, such as:

• Law Enforcement & Security – Police officer, sheriff’s deputy, campus or private security
