Emergencies: call 911

Campus Security is here to keep you safe. Officers patrol the campus, respond to emergencies, and help with any safety concerns you may have. You’ll see them walking or driving around campus. If you need help, don’t be afraid to stop and ask.

Crime Prevention and Safety

You can help prevent crime by staying aware of your surroundings and reporting anything that seems strange. Always lock your car, don’t leave valuables unattended, and walk with a friend at night when possible.

Tips to stay safe:

  • Use well-lit walkways.

  • Keep your belongings with you.

  • Don’t share your passwords or student ID.

Safety Alerts and Advisories

Sometimes you’ll get alerts about things happening on campus like weather problems or emergencies. These alerts help you stay safe and let you know what to do. Make sure you’re signed up for JCC’s alert system so you get messages quickly.

Parking and Traffic Rules

  • If you drive to campus, you need a parking pass.
  • You can obtain your parking pass at the Student Success Center. You will need to show your vehicle registration.
  • Always park in student parking areas. Don’t block fire lanes or other cars, and follow speed limits on campus.
  • Security officers may give tickets for breaking parking rules.

Lost and Found

Lost something? Found something? Head to Campus Security, located in the STEAM building. They keep lost items in a safe place and can help return them to the right person. It’s a good idea to label your stuff with your name so it’s easier to return if lost.

Environmental Health and Safety

Staying safe also means keeping the campus clean and healthy. Don’t block hallways or exits, report spills or leaks, and help keep your area neat. If you see something dangerous, let Campus Security know right away.
