Access to Campus

To help keep everyone safe, comfortable, and respectful at Johnston Community College, there are some rules and guidelines you need to follow while on campus. Here’s a simple guide to help you understand what’s expected.

Access to Buildings and Grounds

You’re welcome on campus during regular hours. Buildings may be locked after certain times, so always check the schedule before planning to stay late. If you need access after hours for class or work, you may need special permission.

Animals on Campus

Only service animals are allowed inside buildings. Please don’t bring pets to class or indoor areas. If you’re walking a pet outdoors, be sure it’s on a leash and you clean up after it.

Fishing at Howell Woods

You can fish at Howell Woods, but you need to follow all the rules. Make sure you have a valid permit, follow posted signs, and clean up after yourself. This keeps the area fun and safe for everyone.

Fitness Center

The Fitness Center, located in the Smith building, is a great place to stay active. You’ll need your student ID to get in. Be respectful of others, clean equipment after use, and follow all posted safety rules.

Campus Hours

Campus hours may vary by building, but most buildings are open during the day on weekdays. Check the school website or call ahead to see when specific offices or services are open.

Student Photo ID Cards

Your student ID is important! You’ll need it to use the library, Fitness Center, and other places on campus. You’ll get your ID at the Student Success Center in the Tart Building after registering for classes. Keep it with you while on campus.

Minors on Campus

Children under 16 who aren’t enrolled in a program should not be on campus without adult supervision. This helps keep everyone safe and avoids distractions during classes or events.

Smoking and Tobacco Use

Smoking, vaping, and other tobacco products are not allowed inside buildings or near entrances. Use only the marked outdoor smoking areas. Let’s keep the air clean and safe for everyone.

Visitors

Visitors are welcome, but they should follow campus rules. If you’re bringing someone with you, make sure they know where to park and how to behave on campus. Some areas may be for students and staff only.

Weapons on Campus

Weapons of any kind are not allowed on campus. This includes guns, knives, or anything else that could be used to hurt someone. Only authorized security personnel may carry weapons.
