Program Overview

Start your plumbing career with JCC’s Plumbing Level 1 Certification. In this 168-hour course, you’ll learn the hands-on skills and safety practices needed for residential and commercial plumbing.

After completing the course, you’ll earn the nationally recognized NCCER Plumbing Level 1 credential.

What You'll Learn

While enrolled in the JCC Plumbing (NCCER) Certification classes you will participate in seated classroom instruction and hands-on training in the Plumbing Lab to complete the NCCER Core Curriculum and the Plumbing Craft Curriculum, fulfilling all NCCER certification requirements.

  • Introduction to the Plumbing Profession – Understand the roles, responsibilities, and expectations of a professional plumber.
  • Plumbing Safety – Learn how to stay safe on job sites and protect yourself and others.
  • Tools of the Trade – Learn how to identify, use, and maintain the most common plumbing tools.
  • Plumbing Math and Drawings – Practice basic measurements, calculations, and reading plumbing diagrams.
  • Pipe and Fittings – Learn how to identify and work with different types of pipe materials and fittings.
  • Drain, Waste, and Vent (DWV) Systems – Understand how DWV systems work and how to install and maintain them.

Career Opportunities

With your NCCER Plumbing Level 1 certification, you can begin working in several entry-level plumbing and construction roles:

  • Residential Plumber – Install and repair plumbing systems in homes, including pipes, fixtures, and water lines.

  • Commercial Plumber – Work on larger plumbing systems in businesses, schools, and commercial buildings.

  • Plumbing Technician – Troubleshoot and repair common plumbing issues for residential or commercial customers.

  • Pipefitter – Install and maintain piping systems used for heating, cooling, and industrial operations.
