Program Overview

A Notary Public serves as an impartial witness to document signings, preventing fraud by verifying identities, administering oaths, and affirming document integrity. In North Carolina, becoming a notary or an e-Notary supports the community by ensuring legal compliance and security in both traditional and digital formats.

Courses Offered

  • Notary Public Certification (Seated/Online): Approved by the North Carolina Secretary of State, covering legal and procedural guidelines. Held at Johnston County Workforce Development Center.
  • Electronic Notary Certification: For commissioned notaries to become certified as e-Notaries.
  • Online & Electronic Notary classes require computer skills, desktop setup, and attendance policy adherence.

Registration & Fees

  • Notary Public Class: $95 (manual not included)
  • Electronic Notary Class: $90 (manual not included)
  • Register online or by mail with completed forms.
  • Employer sponsorships require additional documentation.
  • Students must register and pay for class at least five calendar days prior to the class start date
Registration Options
  1. Pay for class with debit/credit card:  Complete your registration online after selecting your course date and time.
  2. Paying for class by mail: Print the Continuing Education Registration Form (PDF) 
  3. If your employer is to be billed - complete the StudentSponsorshipForm (PDF) - (as well as the Continuing Education registration form above) and submit both forms (registration and student sponsorship) to ceregistrar@johnstoncc.edu.
  4. If more than one person is attending, all attendees may be listed on one Sponsorship Form, but each attendee must complete a Continuing Education Registration Form.
