Defensive Driving

Our comprehensive Defensive Driving Courses are designed to promote safer driving habits and provide potential benefits for those charged with traffic violations.

Our programs are developed in collaboration with the Johnston County District Attorney’s Office and the Safety and Health Council of North Carolina.

Information

  • Location - Public Safety Building
  • Bring a Valid Driver's License or Photo ID
  • Bring Citation (if applicable)
  • Bring Pen and Notepad
  • Arrive on time—late arrivals not admitted
  • Registration fees are non-refundable

Program Overview

Defensive Driving 4-Hour Course:

  • Description: An interactive refresher course emphasizing fundamental driving skills and responsible driving behaviors.
  • Schedule: Tuesdays, from 8:00 a.m. to Noone
  • Fee: $75

Attitudinal Dynamics of Driving 8-Hour Course:

  • Description: A comprehensive program addressing the attitudes and behaviors of negligent drivers through interactive exercises and discussions.
  • Schedule: Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Fee: $105

StreetSafe Program:

  • Description: A 4.5-hour course tailored for drivers aged 16-21, focusing on real-world driving experiences under the guidance of law enforcement and fire personnel.
  • Note: Participants aged 16 or 17 must have a parent present during the first hour.
  • Registration: Sign up directly through the StreetSafe website.
