Associate in General Education

Program Overview

The Associate in General Education (AGE) curriculum includes courses in humanities and fine arts, social and behavioral sciences, natural sciences and mathematics, and English composition. These classes aim to improve your abilities in reading, writing, oral communication, basic math, and computer use. While some courses may transfer to other institutions, this program focuses on broadening your education rather than being a direct transfer pathway.

What You'll Learn

By completing the AGE program, you demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning and develop versatile skills valued by employers. This educational foundation can lead to advancements in your current field or open doors to new career opportunities.

Associate in General Education - Nursing

The Associate in General Education - Nursing is designed for students who wish to begin their study toward the Associate in Nursing degree and a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing as based on Blocks 1 through 3 of the Uniform Articulation Agreement between the University of North Carolina's Registered Nurse (RN) to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs and the North Carolina Community College Associate Degree Nursing Programs.

A student who completes an Associate in Applied Science in Nursing with a GPA of at least 2.0 and a grade of C or better in the AGE-Nursing courses listed in the degree and who holds a current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in North Carolina will have fulfilled the UNC Institutions lower-division general education requirements as well as nursing program entry requirements. However, because nursing program admissions are competitive, no student is guaranteed admission to the program of his or her choice.
