This program focuses on the principles of teaching and learning, child development, classroom management, and effective communication skills. Students will explore how schools operate, how to create positive learning environments, and how to support diverse learners. By the end of the program, students are well-prepared to transfer to a four-year university and continue their journey toward becoming a licensed teacher.
Graduating from the AATP program with a grade of "C" or better in each course and maintaining an overall GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale allows you to transfer with junior status to various teacher licensure programs. However, admission to these programs can be competitive, so this doesn't guarantee acceptance.
Completing the AATP degree shows your dedication to education and equips you with critical thinking and communication skills valued by employers. After earning your bachelor's degree and teaching license, you can pursue teaching positions in elementary, middle, or high schools. Learn more about career opportunities in education here.
