SMITHFIELD, N.C. — Johnston Community College Athletics is proud to announce the addition of Women’s Volleyball as its newest intercollegiate sport.
Under the leadership of Athletic Director Kemionne Feely, Head Volleyball Coach Sonya Harriott will build the team. Harriott has a proven track record in player development, program building, and competitive excellence. Harriott brings a clear vision for creating a program that prioritizes success for the student athletes, both on and off the court. Joining her staff are Assistant Coach Leonard Cunningham and Assistant Coach Joe Rivera, both of whom bring energy, expertise, and a shared passion for developing student athletes and winning teams.

The addition of Women’s Volleyball aligns directly with the College’s mission of enhancing student engagement and delivering well-rounded collegiate experiences. Recruitment is already underway, with the program set to begin competition in the upcoming season.
