Enrollment at Johnston Community College surpassed 7,000 degree-seeking students at the start of the fall term. That’s the highest first-day curriculum enrollment in the College’s history.
The milestone reflects significant growth across the college. As of the first morning of classes, credit-bearing enrollment headcount was up eight percent compared to last year, while full-time equivalent enrollment, or FTE, had increased by 16 percent.
This semester also marks JCC’s first academic session operating primarily in an eight-week course format.
“This is an incredibly proud moment for our college and our entire community,” said President Dr. Vern L. Lindquist. “While reaching 7,000 students is an exciting milestone, we know that each number represents someone with educational goals and a bright future ahead. Our faculty and staff work every day to help make those goals attainable, and this achievement reflects their extraordinary dedication to our students.”
“As JCC celebrates another record-breaking start, the College remains focused on helping every student begin with confidence and to keep going,” Lindquist added.
JCC’s record-setting start continues a period of sustained enrollment growth. Since 2021, the college’s curriculum enrollment has increased by roughly 65 percent.
To support that growth, JCC has made significant investments in technology, infrastructure and organizational improvements designed to strengthen the student experience.
Enrollment increases since 2021 have also generated an estimated $42 million in additional state support, expanding the college’s ability to serve students and the community.
