Johnston Community College Wins Triangle Business Journal SPACE Award for Advanced Manufacturing Training Facility
Johnston Community College has been recognized by the Triangle Business Journal with a prestigious 2026 SPACE Award for its Advanced Manufacturing Training Facility in Four Oaks, a major investment in workforce development that will expand training opportunities for high-demand, high-wage careers in the region.
The Triangle Business Journal’s SPACE Awards honor transformative real estate and development projects that strengthen communities and drive economic growth. JCC’s Advanced Manufacturing Training facility was selected for its innovative design, community impact, and ability to meet the workforce needs of modern industry.
The building was designed by LS3P, constructed by HITT, and made possible by the I-95/I-40 Crossroads of America Economic Development Alliance.
“This award is an incredible honor and a testament to the vision and collaboration that brought this facility to life,” says JCC President Dr. Vern Lindquist.
“Our mission is to provide pathways to opportunity, and this facility represents the future of advanced manufacturing education and workforce training in Johnston County and beyond,” Lindquist adds.
The Advanced Manufacturing Training Facility, located in Four Oaks, provides customized training to meet the needs of local and regional employers, like Vulcan Elements, which also won a SPACE Award.
These kinds of partnerships position Johnston Community College as a leader in workforce education and innovative training solutions across the Triangle and Southeastern North Carolina.
