Johnston Community College (JCC) is the 13th largest institution in the North Carolina Community College System, which includes 58 colleges. Since 1969, JCC has provided associate degrees, certificates, and diplomas for students pursuing college transfer, technical careers, and workforce development.

Who We Are

JCC serves about 14,000 students annually in credit and non-credit programs.

JCC offers nearly 40 programs focused on lifelong learning and career readiness. 

The college employs about 600 full-time and part-time staff with an annual budget of about $40 million. 

We are committed to meeting the educational needs of local citizens, businesses, and industries. 

We offer the community several auxiliary Services: Paul A. Johnston Auditorium, Jaguar Cafe, Jaguar Junction Bookstore, Frank Creech Art Gallery, and five-star Childcare Development Center. 

JCC is governed by a Board of Trustees who oversee the President. The fourth president of JCC is Dr. Vern L. Lindquist.

The Workforce Development Center in Clayton, NC which is owned by Johnston County, operated by JCC, and overseen by the Research Training Zone Board. 

Rudolph A. Howell and Son Environmental Learning Center (Howell Woods) in Four Oaks, a 2,800 acre recreational and educational facility which serves as a hub for environmental education, recreation, wildlife conservation, and other workforce training opportunities.

The Cleveland Center, owned and operated by Johnston County, which serves as an educational facility for many courses at JCC.

The Advanced Manufacturing Training Facility in Four Oaks is a state-of-the-art facility for advanced manufacturing programs such as Mechanical and Applied Engineering, Welding, and Computer-Integrated Machining.

Institutional Goals

  1. Ensure student achievement of academic goals, enhanced employment opportunities, or transfer to four‐year colleges.
  2. Collaborate with appropriate agencies and groups to meet workforce and community needs.
  3. Provide and support personal and cultural enrichment, outreach, and community-based programs, activities, and events that reflect the diversity within the community.
