Board of Trustees
Johnston Community College operates under the control of a 13-member local board, 12 Trustees and the Student Government Association President who serves a one-year term as an ex-officio (non-voting) member.
Each member serves a four-year term with members being appointed by the Johnston County Board of Education, the Johnston County Board of Commissioners, the North Carolina Governor, and the North Carolina Legislature, as outlined in N.C. Gen. Stat. 115D-12 with the most recent changes to board of trustees’ criteria ratified in SL 2023-134.
The Board of Trustees sets all local policy and the board appoints the College president. In addition, the Board of Trustees has authority to disperse funds as delegated by the State Board of Community Colleges. The board meets monthly on the second Thursday at 5:30 pm in public and executive sessions. See schedule and more information below.
