WebAdvisor Course Codes

Courses at JCC are coded by the types and modalities. Course types can be traditional seated, hybrid, blended, or other types. In order to help you better understand, here are codes with their descriptions:

01, 02 - Traditional Day Section (100% seated, face-to-face with technology)
College curriculum course in which 100% of the instruction is delivered face-to-face with the instructor and student not separated by distance. This is true even when some instructional activities are conducted using web-based technology. Example: CIS-110-01.

51, 52 - Traditional Night Section (100% seated, face-to-face with technology)
College curriculum course in which 100% of the instruction is delivered face-to-face with the instructor and student not separated by distance. This is true even when some instructional activities are conducted using web-based technology. Example: CIS-110-51.

B - Blended Section (50% or less online content)
College curriculum course in which 50% or less of instruction is delivered online (student and the instructor are separated by distance). Mandatory face-to-face meeting times are assigned, as well as mandatory online work.  Instructional delivery methods may include, but are not limited to: internet, LMS, licensed instructional video, CD, TV, DVD, instructional software, or other media. Example: CIS-110-B01.

D - Information Highway Section (100% seated, face-to-face with technology)
College curriculum course in which 100% of instruction is delivered in a seated, face-to-face classroom format where interactive live video is used to connect to another college, or receive live video from another college. Example: CIS-110-D01.

F- Fast Track Section
College curriculum course in which instruction is delivered in a reduced timeframe (less than 16 weeks). Classes either meet MORE often or for LONGER periods.  Instruction for fast track classes may be provided in a face-to-face, online, hybrid, or blended learning environment. Example: CIS-110-FI1.

H - Hybrid Section (51 to 99% online content)
College curriculum course in which 51% or more but less than 100% of instruction is delivered online (the student and the instructor are separated by distance). Instructional delivery methods may include, but are not limited to: internet, LMS, licensed instructional video, CD, TV, DVD, software, or other media. Example: CIS-110-H01.

I - Internet Section (100% online)
College curriculum course in which 100% of the instruction is delivered via the internet/online. Courses may have proctored testing, but instruction is delivered online. Example: CIS-110-I01.

BC – Blended Class with Seated Lab Portion Curriculum course in which online instruction accounts for 50% or less of the class portion of the course. 100% of the lab portion of the course is taught via seated face-to-face instruction. Example: BIO 110 BC1.

M - Multi-Campus Location Section (can be any modality)
Curriculum course which is taught at multiple locations. (Health Science courses only). Example: RAD-151-M01.
