JCC CARE Team
Crisis, Assessment, Response, and Evaluation Team
The JCC Crisis Assessment, Response, and Evaluation (CARE) Team serves the faculty, staff, and students by evaluating and responding to troubling or threatening behaviors brought to the attention of the team. We offer support to those in need of guidance or other intervention and refer them to appropriate campus and community resources.
CARE Team goals:
- Promote a successful student body
- Support faculty, staff, and students
- Connect faculty, staff, and students with resources
What we do:
The CARE Team assesses student referrals from faculty and staff when they have concerns about students. We base our assessments on research and use assessment tools provided by the National Behavioral Intervention Team Association. We follow up with faculty, staff, and students post-referral.
Who we serve:
- Faculty
- Staff
- Students
Faculty and staff who have referrals can access the CARE Team referral form at: CARE Team Referral
or email the CARE Team at jcccareteam@johnstoncc.edu Please include a brief summary of your concerns, student name and id, and if the student is aware of the referral.
The CARE Team is not tasked with responding to emergencies. Dial 911 for an emergency.
Attention Students: If you happen to receive a call or email from a CARE Team member, don't be alarmed. Please know that a team member is reaching out to offer supportive resources and an avenue for success. We want to see you do great things at JCC and our goal is to help you. During a meeting with a CARE Team member, you may be asked to share information about yourself or your classes, as well as what resources may be of assistance to help you be successful as you pursue your education.
