911 Communications and Operations

Program Description

The 911 Communications and Operations curriculum is a collaborative agreement between Johnston and Richmond Community Colleges.  This curriculum prepares the individual for service and leadership in the field of 911 Communications and Operations. 

Program Content

To receive an Associate of Applied Science Degree in 911 Communications and Operations, students must complete 47 hours of general education coursework at Johnston Community College and 18 hours of core course at Richmond Community College.

All courses can be taken online except Work Based Learning 111 and Work Based Learning 115, which are face to face internship experiences.  

Employment Opportunities

Graduates are able to obtain employment in entry level 911 Communications and Operations positions and eventually move into leadership roles in this field.

Additional Information

Johnston Community College will assume responsibility for academic advising of students accepted into the 911 Communications and Operations Program under the provisions of this agreement to ensure they are taking the proper courses to complete the program.
