The Johnston Community College EMS Education department offers dynamic courses designed for the prehospital emergency provider on the front lines of today's rising health care needs. Whether you are looking for a degree in Emergency Medical Science, an initial EMS certification course, or an EMS continuing education course, we have a program to meet your needs.

JCC also serves as an American Heart Association Community Training Center for CPR classes and other AHA-related courses. We are proud to offer Specialty EMS courses not otherwise found at other colleges as well. The JCC EMS Education department is committed to remaining one of the leading community colleges in the state, offering innovative and cutting edge classes that exceed the student's expectations. Program Description

Pre-hospital care providers are an invaluable link in the health care system. JCC EMS Education Program is designed to prepare students to enter the workforce by offering EMS credentialing courses and enhancement opportunities such as an Associate Degree in Emergency Medical Science.

Program Minimum Goal

To prepare competent entry-level Paramedics in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains with or without exit points at the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and/or Emergency Medical Technician, and/or Emergency Medical Responder levels.

Program Content

Courses in EMS Education provide the student an opportunity to acquire basic and advanced life support knowledge and skills by utilizing classroom instruction, practical laboratory sessions, hospital clinical experience, and field internships with emergency medical service agencies.coinback

Employment Opportunities

Includes EMS providers, ambulance services, fire and rescue agencies, air medical services, specialty areas of hospitals and healthcare facilities, industry, educational institutions and government agencies.

All Continuing Education initial courses and the Associate Degree in Emergency Medical Science meet the requirements set forth by NC Office of EMS and National Standard Curriculum set forth by United States Department of Transportation National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (US DOT NHTSA).

Additional Information

Upon successful completion of courses or course content in degree programs, students are eligible to seek specific credential from NC Office of Emergency Medical Services and National Registry.
