Associate in Arts in Teacher Preparation (A1010T)

Program Description

The Associate in Science in Teacher Preparation degree is a specialized transfer degree for students interested in pursuing a teacher licensure in elementary, middle, high school, or special education. 

Students who earn this degree can choose to transfer to a number of teacher licensure programs or begin their teaching career as a teacher assistant. Community college graduates must obtain a grade of “C” or better in each course and an overall GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale in order to transfer with a junior status. Courses may also transfer through bilateral agreements between institutions. This program does not guarantee admission into a school of education at a senior institution.

Program Content

Within the degree program, the student will have learning opportunities for the achievement of competence within the general education coursework such as reading, writing, oral communication, fundamental mathematical and natural science, social and behavioral sciences, and the humanities.
