The Pathway to Teacher Assistant (PTA) and TA Training Level One classes are designed to fulfill the requirement of the Johnston County Board of Education for the job of Teacher Assistant for those individuals, employed or unemployed who need to become highly qualified or HQ.

Course Description

This course provides training in presentation skills, learning expectations, monitoring student interactions, social interactions and time management skills needed to support a classroom as a substitute teacher. Upon completion, students should be able to relate content to the roles of substitute teachers in supporting school districts, schools, and students. 

*Johnston County Schools has approved online training. Students interested in substituting in other counties should inquire with their Local Education Agency.

Intended Audience

This course is offered for those who are interested in becoming a Teacher's Assistant.
