The LEAP (Lessons Enhanced Academic Placement) Program is designed to give students a refresher on important concepts and skills that help them transition into or out of developmental courses. This program's primary goal is to help students strengthen their English, reading or math skills. These courses are offered in a structured and supportive environment designed to increase the student's aptitude in the subject matter and prepare students for their college level courses.
The STAR (Successful Transition and Academic Readiness) Program is designed to strengthen students' skills and performance in remedial English, reading, and math. This program gives students the opportunity to prepare for or place out of lower level remedial courses and moves students toward their degree faster, saving both time and money. These courses provide specialized instruction, assistance and support from instructors. All participants who successfully complete and meet all program requirements will be allowed to retake their placement test.
LEAP and STAR:
- Are free to registered participants
- Are offered in the fall and spring semesters
- Do not count towards curriculum program credits, nor Pell Grant Funding
Orientation and Information Sessions
Interested students must meet virtually with the LEAP-STAR Coordinator to participate in LEAP/STAR programs. During this Orientation and Information Session, students will receive information about the program, obtain a pre-assessment testing referral, and select their class schedule for the semester. To request a virtual meeting, students should email firstname.lastname@example.org with their name, student identification number and phone number.
