This course covers selected works in British literature from its beginnings to the
Romantic
Period. Emphasis is placed on historical background, cultural context, and literary
analysis of
selected prose, poetry, and drama.

Course Description
Upon completion, students should be able to interpret, analyze, and respond to literary
works in their historical and cultural contexts.
Note: In accordance with the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement, this course has
been approved to satisfy the Universal General Education Transfer Component requirement
for humanities/fine arts in A.A. and A.S. degree programs. This course has been approved
to
meet the humanities/fine arts requirement in A.A.S. degree programs.
