College is offering six different camps for rising fifth through twelfth graders.

BAD TO THE BONES: CSI CAMP
Spend a week of your summer diving into the world of forensic science. Learn how to search for and lift fingerprints, process a crime scene, test for blood and much more! Open to rising seventh, eighth, and ninth graders.
Dates: June 19 – 22
Time: 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Location: Johnston Community College, Public Safety Services Building
Fee: $150.
COOKING CAMP: CHEF IN TRAINING
Learn basic cooking techniques from an experienced chef. Ask questions, experiment with tastes, but must of all have FUN. Students should bring an apron for camp each day. Open to rising seventh, eighth, and ninth graders.

ADVENTURES IN BABYSITTING
Do you enjoy working with children of all ages? Babysitting is a very important job in our community. This basic competency-based structured babysitting camp is designed to include a lot of interactive hands-on activities while you are learning how to respond to medical emergencies, preventing accidents, basic CPR and first aid, along with other safety issues. Campers are introduced to characteristics of various age groups, age-appropriate games, and playtime activities as well as basic caregiving routines (diapering, feeding and bedtime). *Includes a First Aid & CPR card. This camp is two week long. Open to ages 12-15 (must be 12 years old by May 1, 2017)

CODEATHON!
Show your programming skills! Experience lots of fun operating the JoCo RoBos robot BLT! Show the CRASHcamp that through skilled programming you can conquer any obstacle in your path. Enhance your programming skills using LabView, a graphical programming platform used by most High School teams in the annual FIRST Robotics Competitions. Reprogram this year’s JoCo RoBos robot Brave Little Toaster (BLT) to overcome obstacles designed and fabricated by the CRASHcamp. CodeAthon! is appropriate for those interested in programming and robotics. Open to rising 9th through 12th graders.

CRASHcamp!
Demonstrate your mechanical skills! Students will have the experience of a lifetime building a robotics obstacle course through reading orthographic drawings, exploring CAD designs, 3D printing and much more. Challenge the Roadrunner’s 2017 robot BLT to its fullest with your most complex course obstacles. Inspire-Create-Design-Build! Whatever obstacles you build, BLT will prevail. CRASHcamp! is appropriate for those with good mechanical skills or interest in developing those skills, as well as hands-on trades. Open to rising 9th through 12th graders.

PREP FOR PRECALCULUS!
Get ahead of the game! This camp uses intentional strategies through adaptive learning modules to build, strengthen and promote students’ mathematical knowledge. In addition, highly skilled faculty will provide support and expert guidance to improve depth of knowledge. This program is designed to help students achieve their maximum academic performance in key Mathematics Concepts for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) achievement. Open to rising 9th through 12th graders. This camp is two weeks long.
