Celebration Includes Program Fair, Open House, and Tribute Concert

Johnston Community College is celebrating its 45th anniversary in 1969. The College is planning a weeklong schedule of activities Sept. 8 – 13 for employees, donors, and the community to commemorate the special anniversary.

On Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, employees will reach out to the county's local high schools with recruitment efforts. On Wednesday, students, faculty, and staff will be a part of the anniversary fun and enjoy food, music, and games on campus during the College's annual Fall Fest. On Thursday, in observance of the National Day of Service, employees will give back by taking part in volunteer opportunities on campus and in the community. JCC will also recognize the dedication of our local public safety employees with a breakfast on campus.

Friday and Saturday will feature opportunities for the community to share in the anniversary fun. On Friday, the community is invited to join us for free popcorn and movie on the lawn at 7:30 p.m. featuring the hit film Godzilla.  Saturday will be filled with lots of fun activities from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on the main campus for individuals of all ages. The day will feature an educational program expo where instructors will be on hand to share information about the College's academic programs. The event will also offer inflatables, games, firemen's competition, law enforcement, fire, and EMS demos, Johnston County Safe Kids, child seat safety checks, 25 cent hot dogs, and much more!

Later in the afternoon, the College Foundation will recognize the College's faithful donors and outstanding scholarship recipients during a Donor Appreciation and Scholarship Recipient event. The day will culminate with the 45th Anniversary Tribute Concert at 7 p.m. Saturday night in the Paul A. Johnston Auditorium. The Nu-Tones, Dr. David Johnson, The Hall Sisters and other special guests will perform a variety of BillBoard hits from the late 1960s and early 1970s. Tickets are $20.69 and can be purchased online at http://www.johnstoncc.edu/performingarts or at the JCC Box Office.

Come join the fun and help us celebrate 45 years of educational success.
