Johnston Community College Celebrates Graduates at 2024 Commencement Ceremony

JCC held its commencement ceremony for Summer 2023, Fall 2023, and Spring 2024 graduates at Campbell University

Smithfield, N.C., (May 16, 2024) – Johnston Community College held its commencement ceremony this week at the John W. Pope, Jr. Convocation Center at Campbell University.

Thousands of supporters, faculty, staff, and students came to celebrate the achievements of Johnston Community College’s graduates from the past three semesters.  

In all, 1,331 credentials were conferred upon 874 students, 360 of whom walked across the stage.

“This year’s commencement ceremony was brimming with excitement,” said JCC President Dr. Vern Lindquist.

“We are immensely proud of these students’ accomplishments and of the faculty who played an integral role in guiding them towards their educational goals,” Lindquist added.

This year’s keynote speaker was Chris Johnson, Director of Johnston County Economic Development.

The College’s Student Government Association President, Tiffany Bere, also addressed the graduates.

Johnston Community College has seen its highest historical enrollment periods over the last two semesters.  

Summer classes began May 16, 2024 and the fall semester starts August 15, 2024. The NEXT NC and JoCo Commissioners Promise programs allow for qualified individuals to attend JCC tuition-free. For more information, visit www.johnstoncc.edu.
