Butch Lawter is JCC’s Newest Trustee Member

R.S. “Butch” Lawter, Jr. is JCC’s newest member on the Board of Trustees.
Lawter, a Johnston County Commissioner from Clayton, was sworn in at the Jan. 17 board meeting.
“The community college plays such a vital role in economic development and workforce development for Johnston County,” Lawter said. “I’m excited to be part of the Board of Trustees and I’m excited about the opportunity to learn more about JCC and the North Carolina Community College System as a whole.”
Lawter is vice president of Environmental Services with WithersRavenel, Inc. He earned his bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Clemson University and his master of science degree in civil engineering from NC State University.
Lawter also currently serves on the NC Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO), Triangle J Council of Governments Board of Delegates and Executive Committee, and Johnston County Sports Council.
Lawter serves as the county commissioner representative on the board.
