Johnston Community College Employee Recognized by American Red Cross

JCC Alum and Clinical Coordinator Wendy Collins receives recognition for role in organizing blood drives.

Wendy Collins JCC Wendy Collins, JCC’s Radiography Clinical Coordinator was recently recognized by the Red Cross for her part in organizing campus blood drives over the last 6 years. Since 2015, Collins coordinated these drives which collected nearly 800 units of blood.

Miranda Harrison, Account Manager for Donor Recruitment for the American Red Cross, shared that she is so appreciative of Collins’ impact on the radiography students, helping them understanding the importance of the drives, and encouraging them to give. The most recent drive Collins organized yielded 29 donors. Eight of them were first-time donors.

Collins will retire from JCC at the end of the fall semester. She has served as Radiography Clinical Coordinator since 2000. She is also a graduate of the college.

JCC’s Imaging Programs Department Chair, Ann Jackson, says Collins “has always been an advocate for our program and profession. She will surely be missed and we wish her well on her retirement.”
