JCC held three nights of ceremonies for graduates.

Johnston Community College hosted three nights of ceremonies for students in the Summer 2020, Fall 2020, and Spring 2021graduating class last week.

More than 200 students walked across the stage to receive their degrees or certificates in three areas: Health Sciences, College Transfer, and Applied Sciences. In all, JCC had 675 Associate degree and diploma graduates and 217 students who completed certificates. 270 students graduated with High Honors or Honors.

Dr. David Johnson, JCC President; Lillian Anderson, SGA President; and Lyn Austin, JCC Board Chair, spoke to the graduates and their families at the ceremonies which were also livestreamed on Facebook and YouTube.

Martha Garcia was the recipient of the Academic Excellence Award while Dexter Stewart won this year’s Citizenship Award.

“We congratulate these students on a job well done. Their dedication to the betterment of themselves and their communities is evident through their accomplishments. We know they will do great things and we hope to see them again here at JCC and welcome them as our alumni,” Dr. Johnson says.

Johnston Community College will now operate on a summer schedule through July 31, 2021. Hours of operation during the summer are 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday – Thursday and offices will be closed on Fridays.
