JCC Registering Students for Evening Cosmetology Program
Published: Wednesday, September 23, 2020Johnston Community College is now registering students for its evening cosmetology program, which begins October 5th.
The three-semester continuing education program is designed to teach students the skills they need to work in a professional salon. The bilingual program will be taught by both English-speaking and Spanish-speaking instructors. To ensure Spanish-speaking students are successful in passing the N.C. State Board exam they must know basic English or be willing to learn through free ESL (English as a Second Language) classes offered at the college.
From October 5th until March 31st, the program will meet Monday through Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m.
Completers of the program will be skilled in hairstyling, haircutting, sculptured nail technology, skin care, permanent wave and relaxing, and hair color. After students pass the state board exam, they are qualified to work in cosmetology salons and related businesses in North Carolina.
The program is estimated to cost about $1,900. Students may qualify for scholarship opportunities.
JCC also offers an associate’s degree and diploma in cosmetology, an instructor certificate as well as continuing education courses in manicuring.
