2020 Business & Industry Partners Announced

Johnston Community College announced their 2020 Business & Industry Partners during their annual Breakfast before Business event on Thursday, February 6, 2020.  This year’s winners were Johnston County Emergency Medical Services (JCEMS) and Grifols.

Members of the JCEMS are standing with Dr. David Johnson, President of Johnston CC, and Lyn Austin, Chair, Board of Directors at Johnston Community College.Johnston County EMS has been a dynamic supporter of the Johnston Community College Emergency Medical Services Program.  Their organization makes regular donations of medical supplies and equipment to aid in the education of our students.  “The department has also been generous in loaning radios, heart monitors, ambulances and other equipment for training exercises when needed,” stated Dr. David Johnson, JCC President.

JCEMS and JCC work hand in hand at job fairs and school visits to cross promote careers and training opportunities in emergency medical services.
They also support and encourage new ideas in workforce development, such as providing EMT classes at the high school level.  Engaging students early it vital to fulfilling the need of our workforce for years to come.

Representatives from Johnston County Emergency Medical Services were Chief Dan Gagne, Kevin Hubbard, Josh Holloman, Brad Baker, and Billy Langston.

Grifols employees receiving the Industry Partner of the Year award. Members of the the Grifols team are standing with Dr. David Johnson, President of Johnston CC, and Lyn Austin, Chair, Board of Directors at Johnston Community College.Grifols has been a longstanding partner with Johnston Community College.  Together, JCC and Grifols, build curricula for current and future employees of Grifols and surrounding industry leaders.  In 2018, the two groups worked alongside each other to create the Johnston County Apprenticeship Program.

Grifols has donated equipment and supplies to JCC at both the Workforce Development Center and Advanced Technology Center for student learning.  They also continue to support the JCC Foundation in providing annual scholarships to current Johnston Community College students.

During the event, Dr. Johnson expressed the importance of JCC’s relationship with leading industries. “We are building the future of Johnston County and our workforce.  Working cohesively has the potential to fulfill the needs of our county.”
