Johnston Community College Foundation is pleased to announce Joe Forgeng Jr. of Wake County as the winner of the 2018 Truck Raffle.

“It’s really exciting,” Forgeng said about winning. “I love the truck. I was able to go to the dealership and pick out the white one I wanted. It’s my first truck, and we just love the feel of it and love driving it.”

JCC Foundation sold raffle tickets from April to December for the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado. Forgeng purchased his winning ticket at the N.C. State Fair back in October.

Forgeng bought a raffle ticket in 2017 from student ambassador Owen Daughtry as a way to support education and JCC. “I was just so impressed with Owen,” Forgeng said. “He’s the reason I went back and purchased a ticket for the second year. To me it was just my contribution to the college. I never expected to win.”

Forgeng, who retired from an insurance company in October, said the truck is the perfect gift for him and his wife, Kate, to start their retirement.

“It’s just been a really great experience,” he said. “And we look forward to keeping the truck for a long time.”
