Johnston Community College’s TRIO tutorial program is the recipient of the National Tutoring Association’s 2018 Community College Level Program of the Year Award.

The NTA gives the award every two years to a program whose quality of service to students is recognized by peers, school administrators, or community leaders and effectiveness has been demonstrated through achievement of objective criteria.

JCC’s TRIO program will be presented the award in April at the NTA Conference at the Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Fla.

This is the second time TRIO’s will receive national recognition from the NTA. In 2015, the program won the Service Award and was awarded three complimentary registrations to the 2016 NTA Conference. At this same conference, Misty Garcia, TRIO peer tutor, was recognized as NTA 2016 Tutor of the Year and Brandy Daingerfield, TRIO learning strategies specialist, was honored with the 2016 President’s Award. TRIO’s tutoring program also presented a concurrent session at the 2016 conference.
