Arnold will receive an all-expenses paid trip to the 2018 ASRT Educational Symposium and Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting June 21-25 in Las Vegas. In addition, she will attend educational courses specifically designed for students, attend the House of Delegates meetings and will be assigned a mentor from the profession.

“I feel really honored and privileged to be able to represent Johnston Community College as well as North Carolina,” she said.

A Harnett County native, Arnold will graduate from JCC in May with her associate’s degree in radiography. She plans to pursue her bachelor’s degree next and hopes to one day teach radiography.

“Linda has shown tremendous professional leadership skills in both the classroom and clinical while in our radiography program at JCC,” said Ann Jackson, director of imaging programs at JCC. “She currently serves as our radiography club president, where she has led her classmates in various fundraisers and community service projects. Cultivating the leaders for tomorrow is so important in what we do. We are thankful that the NCSRT and ASRT have joined together to develop this program for our future radiographers.”

Arnold said her instructors at JCC have encouraged and challenged her to continue to grow as a leader as is why she applied for the national leadership program. She is also the president of the Radiography Club at JCC.

“The instructors and staff here are so willing to put students first and spend one-on-one time with you that you just can’t find anywhere else,” she said. “I’ve been to other schools, and I know for a fact that Johnston Community College is special in the way that the staff is for students promoting student success.”

“I’m really excited about sharping my leadership skills,” she said of the program. “That’s what I’m most excited about is learning how to take every opportunity that might come my way and build on that.”

Arnold is the daughter of Donny and Nancy Arnold. She is one of nearly 100 radiology students from around the country chosen to participate in the program.
