Johnston Community College’s medical sonography program recently received two equipment donations to help students train to conduct ultrasounds.

Duke Raleigh Hospital Ultrasound Center in Raleigh donated a Philips IU22 ultrasound machine valued at $7,000 and Eastern Carolina Medical Center in Benson donated a GE Logic 7 ultrasound machine valued at $2,500.

Both machines perform cardiac, abdominal, ob/gyn, and vascular procedures.

Pamela Yahraes, department manager at Duke Raleigh Hospital Ultrasound Center, is pictured with Cathy Godwin, program director of sonography programs at JCC. “We are so grateful for both of these donations,” said Cathy Daniels, program director. “They are a huge asset to the scanning labs in the sonography programs at JCC. Students have increased scanning times and have enjoyed the newer equipment on campus.”
