teddreamConference to showcase more than 70 motivational speakers during week of Feb. 15-19.

Johnston Community College will show a live-stream of the 2016 TED Dream conference direct from Vancouver, British Columbia, from 2 to 3:55 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18 in Room E105 of the library.

TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design — three broad subject areas that are collectively shaping our world. But a TED conference is broader still, showcasing important ideas from any discipline, and exploring how they all connect. The format is fast-paced: 50+ talks over the course of a week, as well as morning and evening get-togethers. As they take in the program, attendees and speakers from vastly different fields can cross-fertilize and draw inspiration from unlikely places.

Dream is a week-long conference about ideas, happening February 15-19, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Onstage, more than 70 speakers will dare us to dream -- to "make no small plans."

Thursday's session, titled Outside the Box, will include talks by Arthur Brooks, social scientist; Adam Foss, juvenile justice reformer; John Legend, singer musician; Lidia Yuknavitch, author;
Moran Cerf, brain hacker; and Alex Kipman, inventor.

The event is open to students and employees and is free of charge.
