Johnston Community College is pleased to announce a new student internship program with Novo Nordisk Pharmaceutical Industries, Inc.
Cody Worley of Willow Springs is the first JCC student to participate in the program. Worley, who graduated from JCC in May with an associate's degree in industrial systems technology, will start his bachelor's degree at East Carolina University this fall.
Joe Hill, manager of facilities, maintenance, and engineering at Novo Nordisk, said the company appreciates the opportunity to partner with the college.
"We've struggled in the past to develop homegrown talent, people with the right skills and capabilities to come into the business and impact it," Hill said. "This student internship program has been something we've waited for. We're very glad to be part of launching this, and we've very glad to have Cody on board. He's been a wonderful addition, and we look forward to a long time and a lot of people going through this."
Worley said he was excited about the hands-on training he'll receive. "This opportunity to learn and build upon my associate's level training means the world to me," he said. "My experience at JCC was amazing. I wouldn't trade it for anything."
"I thank you for the great partnership we have," said David Johnson, JCC president. "This is a real partnership in that you are helping us and we are helping be a part of our economic recovery here in Johnston County. Novo Nordisk has done so much with is in the past and we are looking forward to great things in the future."
