JCC’s Wilson Building Closed Due to Power Outage

Classes and offices are being relocated.
At about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, an electrical breaker failed in the Wilson Building on the main campus of Johnston Community College, which resulted in a power outage to the entire building. There was no fire or injuries associated with the incident.
The college is working with electrical contractors to restore power as soon as possible. In the meantime, the building is closed until further notice and classes have been moved to new locations on the main campus.
In addition to classrooms, the Wilson Building is home to admissions, registrar, financial aid, tutoring services, cashier, business, human resources, College Foundation and other administrative offices. Administration is in the process of setting up alternative work locations so that these services can reopen to the public as soon as possible.
"We are very sorry for the inconvenience this is causing our students, faculty, staff, and the greater community," Johnson said. "JCC is making every effort possible to repair the breaker and get us operational in the Wilson Building as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience and are grateful for the assistance from Johnston County as we work through this power outage."
"Our first priority was determining how we could continue to serve our students as quickly as possible. Now that we have coordinated alternate class locations in other buildings we are now prioritizing getting our student services and business operations functioning again," he added.
