In November, Deborah Parnell, director of allied health and diagnostic services, was selected for her outstanding work. Here's a little more information about Deborah, her jobs at JCC, and her interests outside of work.

Title: Director of Allied Health and Diagnostic Services
Number of years worked at JCC: 12 years
Education: Associate degree in nursing from JCC in 1990; bachelor of science in nursing from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1997; master of science in nursing from Old Dominion University in 2003. All were obtained while on the JCC campus!
Family: Married 42 years to William with 3 sons, Neil, Lee, and Brad
Civic/community service: Participated as JCC Association of Nursing Students (JCCANS) advisor since 2003and assisted in our community service projects.
Community of residence: Smithfield
What do you like to do in your spare time?: What spare time I have is divided as evenly as possible between my eight wonderful grandchildren- William Neil IV, 13; Joshua, 9; Lachlan, 7; Autumn, 6; Joseph, 5; Kathryn, 3; Mallory, 2; and Amanda Jo, 2.
Favorite TV shows: CSI; Criminals Minds; and Scorpion.
If you could invite one person to dinner, who would it be?: My son, Neil who passed away last year. He really loved our family Sunday dinners.
What do you like most about your job and working at JCC?: I love the interaction between students and faculty. JCC has been my home since 1988 as well as being a family affair. My mother went through the LPN program at JCC before they started the RN program.
