KS Bank, Inc. has established a scholarship endowment at Johnston Community College in honor of longtime college supporters Harold Thomas Keen and Barbara Allen Keen.

The endowment supports scholarships to assist JCC alumni and program support to enable the JCC Foundation to advance the alumni relations program.

The current president/CEO of KS Bank, Inc., Harold Keen is a JCC alumnus who earned his associate's degree in accounting from the college in 1976. His wife, Barbara, also earned her associate's degree from JCC and had a distinguished career in art education at the college where she taught graphic design for nearly 30 years.

"Both Barbara and Harold, in very different ways, have made a dramatic impact on our community and Johnston Community College," said Earl Worley, chief operating officer for KS Bank. "With the establishment of the Harold Thomas Keen and Barbara Allen Keen JCC Alumni Endowment, the KS Bank Board of Directors wants to honor both of them for their personal and professional achievements."

Twyla Wells, executive director of the JCC Foundation, thanked KS Bank and the Keens for their longtime support of the college. "I want to applaud KS Bank and Harold and Barbara Keen for their insight in developing a fund to support the alumni of Johnston Community College," said Wells. "We are fortunate to have so many JCC graduates living and working in Johnston County, and we want to welcome them back any time they need additional education and training."
