13 Selected As 2015-16 Student Ambassadors

Ambassadors gain leadership skills and maintain high academic standards.

Johnston Community College is pleased to announce its student ambassadors for the 2015-16 academic year.

Student ambassadors are a diverse group of students who serve as leaders on campus. They are liaisons between students, faculty, staff, and they help answer questions and participate in campus activities. Ambassadors develop relationships with campus community and network with community representatives. These students are also driven to serve others outside the campus community and participate in volunteer projects.

Ambassadors gain leadership skills and are provided development opportunities throughout the course of the year served. They must maintain high academic standards and undergo an application and interview process. In return for their service, students are awarded a scholarship to cover tuition and student fees. Up to 15 students are selected each year.

JCC's 2015-16 student ambassadors are Lindsey Pollock of Kenly; Megan Chappell of Clayton; Miriam Amado-Lopez of Selma; Nayeli Renteria of Selma; Breyia Spruill of Selma; Anna Pierce of Garner; MaryAnna Byrd of Clayton; Oscar Villanueva of Smithfield; Brenton Parker of Four Oaks; Sabrina Dumanski of Pine Level; Truman Phipps of Selma; Roger Munguia Mejia of Smithfield; and Teia Sloan of Clayton.

The students participated in an ambassador orientation July 13-14 where they took a campus tour and learned team building skills, met with campus leadership, planned for the upcoming semester among other activities.
