The North Carolina State Board of Nursing offers a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement which allows mutual recognition of a nursing license with 41 states for nurses trained in NC to practice in member states. The participating states are noted in the table with (NCL) after the state name.Graduates are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN) which is required for practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Employment opportunities include hospitals, rehabilitation/long term care/home health facilities, clinics, and physicians’ offices.
